I worked in healthcare for close to 20 years.
Over the course of those nearly 2 decades, I had plenty of ups and downs. But, I made damn sure the downs didn’t last long by doing this one thing…
I looked for exciting challenges. Juicy problems. Big ‘ol messes.
Notice I said LOOKED for them, not waited for them, not agreed to take them on once asked. I actively looked for things that were broken or missing, figured out how fixing them would benefit me and the company, and got after it. If I needed permission, I would ask, but only after I had all the data to show how allowing me to work on this would benefit the company.
Most people won’t do this.
When asked, most people will say they don’t need to LOVE their career and they don’t have the time or support to do anything other than get through the work day. And while I believe it’s true that a lot of people don’t have the time or support to take on more than what’s already on their plate, life changes when you love your work.
When you’re inspired by your job, feel challenged and engaged, and know the value your work puts into the world, your life changes.
If you want to love your career again, if you want things to be different, you have to do things differently. Make time and ask for support. If you need help figuring out how to love your career again, let’s talk. Schedule a free, fully confidential 30-minute call HERE.
